NATALIE BURTON OLY
Mindfulness is a practice which allows you to pay attention to the present moment with openness, curiosity, and without judgement. Research shows that as little as 10 minutes a day can help reduce stress and anxiety, increase focus and attention, regulate emotions, become more self-aware, and adjust to changes in your internal and external environments faster.
Here are a few of my favourite available apps:
1. Smiling Mind
2. Headspace
3. Insight Timer
Obviously there are a lot more apps out there, and many claim to be free. But the meditations they offer on the free version are extremely small and you will get sick of the limitations very quickly, hence the exclusion from my list.
Here are a few of my favourite available apps:
1. Smiling Mind
- Totally free!
- This app was developed by psychologists to encourage people to incorporate mindfulness practice into your daily routine, much like you would ensuring you eat healthy or get enough physical exercise.
- This is a great place for any level of experience as they have specific programs set up for your level and age.
2. Headspace
- This isn’t free, but there is a free trial to start with
- One of the most well known
- Plenty of guided mindfulness meditations to suit any need
- I personally use this one!
3. Insight Timer
- Free, in-app purchases
- Another great one which allows you hand select what level of mindfulness guidance you would like.
- They boast having the largest library of free meditations
